Since its launch in 2017, Log my Care has become the leading supplier to the LD sector. CEO Sam reflects on the care management platform’s journey so far and recent fundraising success.

It started with a vision

From the very first day, we designed Log my Care to lighten the load for care providers. When my grandfather lived in a care home, I saw staff struggle to document the high-quality care they were delivering. I knew there had to be a better way, and as a lover of technology, I knew where I wanted to start. Legacy systems were clunky, complicated, and hard to use on the go. They were also expensive for care services that didn't have funds to spare.

I spoke with many care providers about what would actually make their day-to-day easier. The same things came up repeatedly - they needed more oversight, to speed up cumbersome admin, and anything that helped save money was a bonus. So, in 2017, Log my Care was born.

Working in collaboration with the learning disability sector

Early on, we realised that learning disability (LD) providers had complex needs that weren't met by other care management systems, and we wanted to solve that. We created a customer advisory board to ensure our plans matched care providers' needs. We focused on providing a platform that prioritised individual-led care, and that dedication has paid off. Today, we’re the leading platform for learning disability providers, we work with over 1,300 care providers and support 20,000 people with our platform every single day.

Our relationships with care associations, standards bodies, and providers inform our product roadmap. By working together and incorporating their feedback, we’ve created a platform that truly meets the needs of care providers.

Our commitment to industry standards

At the beginning of 2023, we achieved recognition as a Quality Partner of the Professional Records Standards Body (PRSB) by meeting the requirements of the About Me standard.

This milestone advanced our commitment to supporting the delivery of person-centred care. We wanted to ensure that critical information, such as the preferred communication methods and medication protocols of those we support, could be easily accessed with just a click.

Since becoming a Quality Partner, we've also met the PRSB's standards for the Personalised Care and Support Plan, and in collaboration with the Digitising Social Care Programme, we achieved the 12 Catalogue Compliance standards, maintaining our status as an Assured Supplier of Digital Social Care Records.

These standards better empower the person being supported to maintain any relevant health information about themselves, including:

  • Relevant health conditions
  • Treatment preferences
  • Lifestyle
  • Goals and priorities

They also improve coordination between health professionals, reduce repetitive questioning, and ensure everyone involved has access to the correct information, meaning:

  • Care workers can provide personalised care that perfectly aligns with the needs and desires of every individual.
  • Families and carers can stay in the loop and give their meaningful input to care plans.
  • Care managers have access to comprehensive and up-to-date care plans to enable full oversight and coordination.

What the future holds for Log my Care

We're delighted to have raised an additional £3 million in funding from Mercia Ventures. We'll use this to continue investing in the sector. Our customer advisory board feeds into everything we do, and we have some exciting features in development.

We've had many requests to build a rostering system that meets the complex scheduling needs of home care providers. Now we can accelerate rostering forward, it's coming later this year. There's a gap in the market for a care management platform that does scheduling well, and we’ll develop something that makes care providers' lives easier.

We’ll also continue working closely with learning disability providers to develop features that help provide seamless individual-led care, giving the people they support as much autonomy and independence as possible.
